Call Options, #1:
Background: As you all know, Alex Pretti was murdered on Saturday by Custom and Border Patrol agents. This follows the murder of Renee Good by ICE. Use your anger and grief in a constructive way. We have an opportunity to stop funding for DHS, ICE and CBP and put some guardrails back in place. Encourage friends and family to call their Senators and tell them to vote NO on DHS funding.
Action: Call your representatives!

Hello, my name is (name) and I am a constituent from (zip code). I am calling to clearly state my opposition to continued funding of the Department of Homeland Security.
My concern is not rooted in partisanship, but in accountability, transparency, and humanity. DHS has repeatedly demonstrated patterns of harm, overreach, and a lack of meaningful consequences for actions that result in serious injury or loss of life. Continued funding without substantial reform signals acceptance of those outcomes. Public safety should never come at the expense of civil liberties, human dignity, or basic standards of care. Funding should be contingent upon clear oversight, enforceable accountability, and measurable changes — not granted as a default.
I understand that standing against funding for DHS and its subsidiaries may lead to the shutdown of the government. You have continually stated you will not agree to a vote that will shut down the government. I ask that you reconsider that position in light of the great harm that DHS, ICE and CBP are doing in our communities. Democrats only real leverage is the budget. You must use it!
I expect my Senators to protect people, not institutions. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Call Options, #2:
Background: The federal funding bill passed in November created another deadline for Congress to fully fund the government for FY2026. The deadline is January 30th. The recent atrocities committed against both immigrants and citizens shine a light on the abuses of power by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and its parent agency, Customs and Border Patrol (CBP). These abuses are not new as both have terrorized immigrant communities, torn families apart, dispensed with due process and subjected detainees to abuse since their establishment in 2003. The killing of Renee Good was the 9th ICE shooting since September 2025. In addition to DHS funding, ICE received a $75 Billion slush fund in the One Big Beautiful Bill with no guardrails or conditional oversight attached.

I am calling to urge (rep name) to oppose any appropriations bill or Continuing Resolution (CR) for the Department of Homeland Security that maintains funding for ICE. This lawless agency has been violently attacking and killing immigrants and citizens around the country and must be defunded and dissolved for good.
In addition, I want (rep name) to demand a full investigation of ICE agents' indiscriminate use of deadly force against protestors.
Finally, I want (rep name) to call for and support the impeachment of Kristi Noem as Secretary of Homeland Security.
